Lost Vocabularies is a newsletter about how creative people put words to their work.
I'm Christie Little—an independent strategist, artist, and writer. Most of my days are spent with designers, makers, and other creative types—working together to articulate their practice in ways that are true. This newsletter grew from the conversations, the discoveries, those moments when we finally find the language living just beneath the surface of their practice.
What you'll find here:
Interviews with creative professionals about their processes and philosophies. Close looks at how people talk about their work and use language to deepen their practice. Explorations of creative tools: mind maps, mood boards, and sketches that become concepts. Occasional deep dives into adjacent subjects—from restaurant design history to the meaning of museums.
Think of this as an open notebook: a glimpse into what I’m reading, learning, and the connections I’m making in the creative landscape.
Who this is for:
Creative studio owners and collaborators. Independent designers of all types. Anyone who finds value in talking about what and how they create.
The practical bits:
The newsletter is free. Paid subscriptions support this work and are deeply appreciated.
